This week, we’re highlighting seven great ways to connect with your community and make the most of the summer season, all while sticking to your budget. 


Sunday, July 27th – Enjoy an Afternoon of Crafting at the DIA

Time: 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Cost: Free admission for residents of Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties; $20.00 for adults, $8.00 for children. 

Highlights: Mobile art cart, multiple mediums and creative activities.

Kick off your week with a creative afternoon at the Detroit Institute of Arts! Check out the Library For Now—a mobile art cart stocked with books, art supplies, and hands-on activities. Whether you're crafting or just soaking in the inspiration, this event is perfect for all ages to explore their creative side!


Monday, July 28th – Sensory Friendly Play at Urban Air

Time: 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Cost: Passes range from $11-$40, see prices online.

Highlights: Trampolines, obstacle courses, relaxed fun.

Looking for a fun, sensory friendly evening of play? Head to Urban Air Adventure Park in Livonia for relaxed and inclusive fun! With dimmed lights and no loud music, this special event offers an enjoyable, accessible space for individuals with sensory processing challenges and their families.


Tuesday, July 29th – Tuesday Morning Tunes

Time: 11:30 am – 12:30 pm

Cost: Free to attend.

Highlights: Student performers, live music, fun activities for kids.


Ready to rock out, superhero style? Visit Canton’s Heritage Park for Tuesdays are Terrific, a concert series with family friendly music, delicious eats and tons of fun! Featuring student performers from the School of Rock and superhero themed fun, this event is a great way to connect with your neighbors and get your groove on!


Wednesday, July 30th – City Square Street Fair

Time: 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Cost: Free to attend.

Highlights: Local vendors, food and dessert trucks, face painting.

Swing by the Warren City Square Street Fair for an evening packed with activities for the whole family! Adults will love shopping from local vendors and food trucks while little ones can participate in airbrush face painting, crafts, and playing on various inflatables. With live entertainment from a ventriloquist and a movie night under the stars, this activity is sure to make for an amazing evening.


Thursday, July 31st – Take a Behind the Scenes Tour of the Fisher Theatre

Time: 10:00 am – 11:30 am

Cost: $30 for members, $40 for guests.

Ever wondered what happens behind a Broadway stage? Take a behind the scenes tour of Detroit’s iconic Fisher Theatre and get an inside look on all things performing arts! Friday, August 1st – Shop Local at the Buy Michigan Now Festival

Saturday, August 2nd – Meet the Fleet in Waterford

Time: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Highlights: Vehicle showcase, food trucks.
