Featuring nights of family-fun in Southfield, dazzling fireworks in Rochester, and an island party in the heart of Downtown Detroit, this week’s roundup offers seven unique opportunities to create unforgettable summer memories and experience the spirit of our local communities.


Sunday, June 22nd – Explore Eastern Market

Time: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Cost: Free to attend.

Highlights: Fresh produce, artisanal goods, outdoor shopping.

Kick off the week with fresh vibes at Detroit’s legendary Eastern Market, where crisp produce, mouthwatering treats and lush greenery await. With six historic sheds to explore, it’s the perfect place to take in the sights, sounds and flavors of the city—all while scoring great finds that won’t break the bank. Admission and district parking are free, but make sure to arrive early—spots fill up fast!


Monday, June 23rd – Attend Park It Family-Fun Night in Southfield

Time: 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Cost: Free entry; snacks and refreshments available for purchase.

Highlights: Face painting, live DJ, outdoor movie screening.

Grab your lawn chairs and picnic blankets for Southfield’s Park It Family Fun Nights! This summer series transforms Southfield’s Municipal Campus into a vibrant hub filled with music, laughter and community spirit. Featuring a live DJ, face painting, bounce house, and outdoor movie screening, this event is the perfect way to celebrate summer in your neighborhood. Admission is free and snacks are available for purchase, making this a fun and affordable evening activity.


Tuesday, June 24th – Step into Fun at the Livonia Spree

Time: 4:00 pm – 11:00 pm

Cost: Free entry; tickets required for rides and games.

Highlights: Carnival rides, live animals.

Head to the Livonia Spree festival for food, fun and entertainment! This local favorite features carnival rides, classic fair treats and live music, capturing the best of Livonia’s local charm. Don’t miss Tuesday afternoon's animal races—featuring adorable ducks and pigs—and a delightful petting zoo perfect for all ages. While attractions are ticketed, entrance to the fair and its shows are free, making this a low-cost outing for all ages.


Wednesday, June 25th – Celebrate with Fireworks at Festival of the Hills

Time: 6:00 pm – 11:00 pm

Cost: Free to attend.

Highlights: Fireworks show, outdoor sport courts.

Visit Borden Park and watch the night sky come alive during Rochester’s beloved Festival of the Hills, bringing together hundreds of community members for an evening of feel-good fun. Before the fireworks begin, enjoy live entertainment and explore one of the park’s many outdoor amenities including pickleball, basketball and volleyball courts, plus a play structure for little ones. Admission is free but be sure to arrive early to secure a fantastic view.


Thursday, June 26th – Dueling Pianos in Downtown Oxford

Time: 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Cost: Free to attend.

Highlights: Live music, small town charm.

In the mood for an evening of unforgettable music? Stop by Downtown Oxford for its Summer Concert Series, featuring a live performance by Dueling Pianos. Sing along, dance, and soak in the welcoming spirit that makes Oxford a true local gem. With iconic restaurants and charming shops just steps away, it’s the perfect opportunity to treat yourself to a night out in one of Metro Detroit’s most beloved small towns.


Friday, June 26th – Relax with Summer Reading at Your Local Library

Saturday, June 28th – Soak Up the Tropics at the Island Time Beach Party

Time: 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm
