Credit Cards, Made Simple

A credit card lets you borrow money to make purchases and pay it back later, while a debit card pulls money directly from your checking account right away. With a credit card, you can build credit and have extra protections, but you’ll want to pay your balance in full to avoid interest. A debit card keeps you spending only what you already have.

A credit limit is the maximum amount you’re allowed to borrow on your credit card. Think of it as your spending “ceiling.”

It’s determined by factors like your credit history, income, existing debts, and how well you’ve managed credit in the past. Lenders use this information to decide how much they can safely offer you while keeping your payments manageable.

To make a credit card payment, you can simply log in to Online or Mobile Banking and make it right within our digital banking platforms. If you need assistance, you can reach out to our Connection Center at 248-735-9600.
If you only make the minimum payment, your account stays in good standing but it will take much longer to pay off your balance, and you’ll pay more in interest over time. The minimum keeps your card active, but paying more whenever you can helps reduce your balance faster and save money.
Using your credit card responsibly can help your credit score. Things like paying on time and keeping your balance low are positive signals. On the other hand, carrying high balances, missing payments, or maxing out your card can hurt your score. Our advice is to always pay on time and try to keep your balance well below your limit for the best impact.

A good rule of thumb is to keep your credit utilization under 30%, which simply means using less than 30% of your available credit at any given time. This shows lenders you’re managing your credit wisely.
Both cards offered at Vibe have a similar fee structure including no annual fee and no cash advance fee. There is a standard foreign transaction fee of 1.5% and a $25 late payment fee, so we always encourage members to do their best to make their payments on time.
If you notice any unauthorized charges, we ask that you contact us immediately so we can help with next steps. The best contact number for our Connection Center is 248-735-9500.
If your card is lost or stolen, contact us immediately at 248-735-9500. We can block your card to prevent fraudulent use, check transactions to ensure the card has not been used, and also get a new card ordered for you as quickly as possible.
