Our Journey:
From Telephones to Vibe
- Our Roots (1936)
It all started when ten employees from Michigan Bell Telephone Company each contributed $10 to form Telephone Employees Credit Union. Their goal was simple to help one another save, borrow, and grow. - Becoming Telcom (1982)
As times changed, so did we. Our name evolved to Telcom Credit Union a nod to our telephone roots and our growing membership across Michigan. - A Fresh Vibe (2013)
In 2013, we became Vibe Credit Union a name that reflects our energy, our connection to people, and the sound waves that shaped our beginnings. - Growing Together (2019)
Our members said “yes” to merging with Oakland County Credit Union, combining two strong institutions to better serve Southeast Michigan. - Today and Beyond
With more than 75,000 members we continue to grow while staying true to our purpose: helping every member feel confident, connected, and cared for.
Educated decisions. Empowered members.
That’s our Vibe.

What Makes Vibe Different?
-
We put people before profit. Vibe is a not-for-profit organization, so every decision starts with what will actually improve your life.
-
We invest where it matters. In our members, our team and the communities that trust us. People come first at Vibe.
- We show up - always. With real support, equitable products, and the courage to do what's right.
Our Values and Why They Matter.
Our values reflect what matters most: people, progress, and possibility.
- Be Inclusive. We welcome every voice, every background, every story.
- Embrace Change. We’re curious, flexible, and always learning.
- Educate. Knowledge is power, so we share it generously.
- Seek Opportunities. Find the path forward, and help others find theirs.
These values guide every decision and every moment of care we offer.
