For over 80 years, Vibe has been a part of our members’ lives in a vastly changing world. Our name has changed and our assets have grown from a humble $100 to nearly $1 Billion. One thing that remains the same is our commitment to sharing in our members’ stories, futures, and financial wellness. Everyone living in the Lower Peninsula is welcome to bank with us.
It began with 10 people and the rest, they say, is history.
1936: Telephone Employees Credit Union opens in Detroit.
1982: We shortened our name to Telcom Credit Union.
2013: We changed our name to Vibe Credit Union as a tribute to the sound waves of our past.
2018: Our members voted “Yes” to an exciting partnership with Oakland County Credit Union which was founded in 1953 as Oakland County Employees Credit Union. After years of exciting growth, including partnerships with Best Source Credit Union and My Postal Credit Union, Oakland County Credit Union was looking to expand outside of Oakland County and realized they had outgrown their name.
2019: We welcome Oakland County Credit Union’s 32,000 members to the Vibe family and now serve over 64,000 members with more branches, more staff and the strength to serve our members for the next 80 years.
