It's no secret that navigating the hiring process in today's world is no easy feat! Add to that the pressure of a video interview process as opposed to being there in person. Not to fear - we've got you covered! Here are some tips for rocking your video interview from Carrie, Senior Human Resources Specialist at Vibe Credit Union.

Find a Quiet Location

During most video interviews, the interviewee is required to turn on both their camera and microphone. So, make sure you remove any distractions, such as family, friends, or pets. By interviewing in a quiet location, you will eliminate any background noise and be fully present for the interview.

Take Advantage of Video Retakes

You may be asked to do a one-way interview, and on many video interview platforms, you can do video retakes. Take advantage of that feature! If you aren't quite confident with how you answered a question or wanted to add something in, this feature could be very helpful for you.

Dress Up for Your Interview

As the saying goes, "Dress for the job you want, not the job you have." While it may be a remote interview, it's still a professional interview. Dress the part! If you would dress professionally for an in-person interview, you should also dress professionally for a video interview. So put on your professional business attire, and rock the interview!

No-Call/No-Shows are a No-Go

Did you receive another job offer somewhere else? Or are you no longer interested in the position? Be honest with the interviewer – give them a call and let them know. A no-call/no-show could be burning a bridge or a connection you may need later.

When it comes to interviewing, it's important to be adaptable and be yourself above all else. Good luck, you'll do great!
